Arlington Cemetery Bike Tour
Immerse yourself in the history of the United States visiting the Arlington National Cemetery and the war memorials of Washington DC on this bike tour.
Arlington Cemetery Bike Tour
On the day of the activity, we'll meet at 9 am on 23rd Street NW, where we'll get onto our bikes ready to start exploring some of the most famous areas of Washington DC. First, we'll cycle down the National Mall. This large avenue is home to the George Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial amongst other important American landmarks.
We'll then continue pedalling onwards in the direction of the Potomac River, where we'll learn about some of the most prominent US presidents as we contemplate the memorials dedicated to Thomas Jefferson and Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
After having free time to eat lunch (not included), we'll resume our tour making a visit to the sculptures that pay tribute to those who lost their lives in battle in Vietnam, Korea and Iwo Jima.
Crossing the state line between Washington DC and Virginia, we'll soon arrive at Arlington National Cemetery and climb off our bikes to do part of the tour on foot. We'll stop at the mausoleum of John F. Kennedy and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, where we'll observe the famous daily Changing of the Guard ceremony that takes place in front of the monument.
Our bike tour of Arlington Cemetery and the Washington DC war memorials will come to an end around 2 pm back at the original departure point.
